About Us

At Elim Lutheran Church, our mission is to “celebrate Christ in our community by greeting, nurturing, and serving”.

Whether you’ve been attending church for years or haven’t stepped into a sanctuary in decades, we hope you’ll come and join us Sunday if you’re looking for a church in our hometown.

During the service, you’ll hear our faith expressed in the songs we sing, prayers we say, and our pastor’s preaching. Our worship style draws upon our traditions within the Lutheran faith.

As a congregation, we seek to embody the wide, expansive welcome of God. From the beginning, we have been a church that makes people feel at home.

We welcome children and cherish our role as God’s extended family for everyone. Children are accepted as they are, giggles and all.

We welcome a wide spectrum of opinions. We may not all be of one mind on some issues, but we find out unity in our service to our neighbors and in the love of Jesus. We are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), which welcomes all people regardless of age, race, gender, economic status or sexual orientation. If you would like to learn more about the ELCA, we would invite you to visit the sites below and discover more about who we are and what we believe.

OUR HISTORY

Elim’s beginning in 1905

In 2005, Elim Lutheran Church celebrated 100 years of ministry serving the Range community.

The Range Lutheran Church society, a group from Balsam living in the Range Community, organized as a congregation in 1905. Named the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Congregation (Svenka Evangeliska Range Forsamling), it was served by Balsam pastors. In 1946, the name was changed to Elim Evangelical Lutheran Church. The relationship with Balsam continued until 1970, when Elim became a two-point parish with Bethany Lutheran near Almena. After Bethany closed, Elim again become associated with Balsam in 2012. Through the years, there have been many physical changes with remodeling and additions to the church building. Yet, Elim’s mission is to “Celebrate Christ in our community by greeting, nurturing, and serving”.
